Quoted by Rutland Herald on Vermont neonics legislation

I was quoted by the Rutland Herald on the bill that bans neonics in the state of Vermont:

Veto urged

A “global consumer advocacy group,” Consumer Choice Center, has urged Gov. Phil Scott to veto H.706, which would ban the use of neonicotinoid-treated seeds in Vermont.

According to a news release, “The ban would be detrimental for farmers and consumers alike,” said the CCC’s Senior Policy Analyst Bill Wirtz.

The Consumer Choice Center is a nonprofit organization that claims to defend “the rights of consumers around the world. Our mission is to promote freedom of choice, healthy competition and evidence-based policies that benefit consumers. We work to ensure that consumers have access to a variety of quality products and services and can make informed decisions about their lifestyle and consumption.”

Wirtz said CCC maintains the treated seed would “would leave farmers in Vermont exposed to insect attacks and damage their crops.”
